Service Description

One of the most endangered ecosystems of the whole country is the dry forest. Mostly due cattle ranching expansion and in the case of the central valley of Costa Rica, the expansion of the cities that are settled in middle of a transitional area of dry forest and foothills rainforest. Fortunately, a little representation of dry forest is still located near SJO International airport at Robledal Hotel gardens. To have a better understanding of this ecosystem, Emanuel, son of the owners of Robledal Hotel, will lead this Live Virtual Birding tour to spot some of the dry forest bird species that surrounds his wonderful property. Species like Spot-breasted Oriole, Ferruginous Pygmy-owl, Rufous-naped Wren, Cinnamon Hummingbird among other interesting dry forest bird species are likely to be spotted. Emmanuel also runs a very interesting program of artificial nests for the resident owls at his property and he is been doing quite successfully with Pacific Screech Owl, that with some luck, can also be spotted just outside of one of the several artificial nests around the property. Join Emmanuel to support his projects and bird in his yard and maybe one day in the future he will be smiling just outside the airport to pick you up in your first day in Costa Rica.
